La Poiata Retreat ‘In the City’ – is hosting a very special event at the Ziz Art & Social Area, Cluj-Napoca.

✨ Endearing, engaging and genuinely eccentric English raconteur David Ellis will be presenting his inimitable tales of the intricate weavings of the tumultuous music scene he lived through in London, from his formative years in the Swinging Sixties…

David Ellis’s ‘Extended Play’ (EP) is a semi-improvised audiovisual performance on the evolution of pop music, and it’s abracadabraic influence on contemporary culture.

Ellis’s digression begins in 1965 drawing on his memories of peroxide blondes, roughneck bikers and the liberating frenzy of Stratocaster guitars through to the pivotal years of punk then post-punk in 1985. Ellis will zig-zag freely, knitting various stories in what he describes as „a live poignant playback of the collective teenage memories of five generations”.
